Stop frame animation to lighten up your day!

Stop frame animation is a brilliant and fun animation technique used in renowned films such as Ardmans Wallace and Gromit and Tim Burtons Nightmare before Christmas and Corpse Bride.
Objects are brought to life by shooting one frame at a time, moving the object slightly each frame to appear as if it moving by itself. It is very intricate and painstaking work to get fluid and realistic animation. Wallace and Gromit took 5 years to make, filming a second of footage each day.
Here are some short and sweet stop frame animations that with a bit of patience, you can produce in your very own home using separate photographs and playing them as a continuous sequence.

Sticky Graphics

As a company we do various wall graphics and cut vinyl installations.
So when I first saw these Art Installations I had to take a closer look.

The fist image looks like a complex 3 dimensional construction of black rods.
However, these various images have all been produced simply using black sticky tape.

The effect created works well, as all planes of the room are used, and the media gives high contrast.
They are by a Polish artist Monika Grzymala who's exhibition, at the Sumarria Lunn gallery in London, opens in October.

Inspiring Animation

This week we bring you quite an old animation done in 2006 by a company called "Animusic". What makes this animation so incredible is how the music perfectly matches the motion and complexity of the animation.

See for your self just how amazing this inspiring animation is.

Dirty Cars

Normally dirty car windows are not the nicest things to look at, with ridiculous messages written in like “MoTown was ere” and “Please clean me”.  However, this type of dirty car window doesn't follow trend.  Take a look below at this genius approach...

Brilliant architectural visualisation

Hi everyone,

We recently came across this really good piece of marketing exclusively created in 3D.

We are especially impressed with the editing of the animation and the overall 'movie-trailer' feel. Also the way they have managed to squeeze in various technical details (which would normally seem boring and mundane) and somehow make them interesting and visually appealing to watch.

The link to the animation is below:

Let us know what you think of the animation as a whole and the methods you think were used in it's creation, we would love to hear your opinions.

Inspiring Animation: Music Video Special

Hi Guys.

We have had an incredible week of some of the best animated music videos the industry has to offer. But sadly it's the last day of our music video special.

We are ending with a truly brilliant video that involves no animation, sketching or 3D what so ever. The best thing this video shows is that you don't always need crazy visual effects to create an amazing video. All you need is a good idea, as well as some quality choreography.

Hope you enjoy

Manhattanhenge

Last Wednesday, the13th July, New York witnessed the sun setting in perfect alignment with it's east-west lying streets (actually 29 degrees off true east-west, hence the difference in date from the equinox). This urban solar phenomenon has been dubbed 'Manhattanhenge' by the locals who gather in large numbers to photograph the event.

What's Delapointe of Skating At Home?

Most children and to be honest adults, dream of having a skate park nearby, let alone in their garden, or dare we say, house.

This is exactly what skate star Pierre-Andre Senizergues is having created in Los Angeles by architect Giles La Bon Delapointe as a skaters paradise. The full version is still a while from completion, however a full scale room has been created for enthusiasts to try.

The 735 square foot mock up owned by Etnies features a seating area, dining area and kitchen all in the arena of a residential skatepark.

Have a look at the video below......
